Ambassador, Brad Johnson in Cordillera Huayhuash

Brad Johnson has been guiding trekking and climbing trips in Peru for 28 years. This has been an extremely busy year for Brad’s company Peaks & Places Travel, as Brad has guided a total of five groups. The first two groups went on an 8- day trek around the spectacular Cordillera Huayhuash Mountains. These mountains host the peak called Siula Grande, made famous by the book and movie titled "Touching The Void" by Joe Simpson.

The 108- mile trek around the Cordillera Central crosses 8 passes, ranging in height from 15,500 feet to over 16,400 feet. Almost every day, his group would camp at a beautiful lake beneath glaciated peaks, including a peak called Yerupaja. Yerupaja is the second highest summit in Peru, rising to 21,766 feet.

Guiding a group 108 miles in 8 days, that is not all on a trail, can make Brad’s feet sore. “That’s why I always have 3 pairs of the Point6 Hiking Tech Medium Weight Crew socks. I like to be able to change into a dry pair at the end of the day so I maintain warm feet. Plus, mid way through trek I have an extra pair to put on. I am able to maintain dry and comfortable feet to the end of the trip.”
