The VBL provides an added layer of protection from the cold by trapping the good moisture next to the skin, allowing your body to use its sweat to regulate warmth, and reducing loss of humidity by your insulating layers absorbing that moisture your body produces. Additionally the VBL inhibits outside water from working its way towards your foot to soak the next to skin layers that are so important. Our VBL is most effective if worn between a thin wool liner sock next to the skin and a heavier wool outer sock as part of a 3-layer system that creates this specific ecosystem with your boots.

Sturdy and durable laminated ripstop liner sock provides a non-breathable barrier between foot and footwear to keep the boot liner and insulation dry in extreme cold conditions.

Moisture is retained inside the VBL, keeping the foot noticeably drier & warmer during cold weather expeditions.

Ultrasonically welded seams are smooth and puncture-free, preventing vapor transportation through seams. Strategic placement of seams add comfort.

Stretch merino wool cuff keeps VBL in place during use and prevents slippage.
