Ambassador Heather Anderson attempts calendar year triple crown

Ambassador Heather Anderson attempts calendar year triple crown

Point6 ambassador Heather 'Anish' Anderson is on the Appalachia Trail attempting to be the first woman to ever complete a calendar year triple crown (a trek only achieved four times prior). A hiker attains a triple crown when they hike the entirety of the Appalachian Trail, the Continental Divide Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail.

Anderson is attempting the feat in a single calendar year. She took off in early March and foresees the trek taking 9-10 months to complete. As a holder of self-supported fastest known times (FKTs) on three National Scenic Trails, Anderson knows how to quickly travel the trails and needs to average about 25 miles per day. She also will have to account for travel days from trail to trail, during which she will be unable to log the 25 miles/day pace she'll have to keep to achieve her goal.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the national trails system and the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, and Anderson intends to honor the anniversary with her calendar year triple crown achievement. What better year than this to hike three of the major National Scenic Trails provided for in the national trail system act? Point6 will host three Ask Me Anything sessions with Anderson, one after the completion of each trail. The second session is tentatively planned (dictated by Anderson's progress on the trail) for Aug. 12. Follow this link to see our 1st AMA session and leave your question for Heather, so it can start being up-voted!
