Have you ever wanted to design a sock? Well now is your chance!
We are calling on all of you out there to submit an illustration, crayon drawing, sketch on a napkin, or whatever works for you. We will take that, convert it into a workable design, and put the best ones up for a vote to the community.
The chosen design will be made and sold through point6.com
Winner will receive 5 pairs of their sock and $500 credit to pick up whatever merino goods they want.
HOW TO ENTER
Above you will find links to either a 3/4 Crew or Crew height template, and our current color palette for wool colors.
Download whichever template you want to work with along with the color palette for reference.
Just color in the sock however you want. Adobe Illustrator, crayons, finger paints, ball point, whatever makes you feel creative!
Once you are done with your masterpiece you can submit it through email to info@point6.com with a message including any details you might want us to know and a file or image of your design.
The Point6 team will take all the submissions and pick our favorites to put them up for a community vote through email and social media.
The winner will then be selected by the community and we will work with them to convert their design into a real world merino sock.
Last day for submissions will be October 5th, 2024 and voting will begin shortly afterward.
TIPS FOR SOCK DESIGN
Keep designs from being too intricate. We knit all of our designs into the sock, so there is a resolution limitation. This is something we will help with if your sock is chosen though! So have fun.
The foot of the sock should remain fairly plain. There is a lot of knitting magic that we put into the foot, and it is challenging to have a complicated pattern there.
The calf of the sock is where the bulk of the design should go. Wool knitting handles horizontal designs better than vertical as the offset in the knitting can impact the alignment on the back of the sock. However, we can work some magic to have the pattern repeat around the calf.
Text needs to be BOLD if used. The resolution of knitting a design can be limiting for readability.
Colors should be limited to 5 including the base color of the sock. They do not need to be an exact match, we can work through that once we convert your design to a knit ready file.
Below you can see how the design above translates into a final knitted sock.

The 2023 Winner
There were so many amazing entries last year, it was incredibly difficult to pick just one! But, Sara K’s design inspired this fun and bright Caribbean 3/4 Crew sock which ultimately took the honors.
