Ironman and Point6 Go The Distance

Ironman triathlete and Point6 Ambassador, Heather Gollnick, competed in the August 2nd Ironman in Boulder Colorado. More than 3,000 athletes took on the challenge making this the largest Ironman in North America. The Ironman consists of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike and finishes with a 26.2 mile run!

While preparing for an ultra event of this nature, an athlete must focus on nutrition as well as training in multiple disciplines, and having the proper equipment is paramount. This is where Point6 socks enter the picture for Heather.

During a 112 mile ride you want to avoid any type of rubbing or chafing as you have a full marathon to look forward to immediately after. When racing in the heat like I did in Boulder you're pouring water over your head and your socks often times get wet. When you are performing at a high level you want to ensure your socks will not rub or cause chafing, and that's why Point6 is the perfect choice for me when undertaking some of the world's toughest long distance competitions!

Heather came in first in the female 45 to 49 category and qualified for the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. She also finished third overall in the female category and would like to thank Point6 for putting such a versatile product on her feet.

Heather says, "As a successful endurance athlete, I have learned that choosing the right gear is just as important as having the right tire pressure in your car. If you want your body to respond under the strain of competition then clothe it with the best products. Point6 is the choice for me!"
